new to clomid - questions!!

My doctor put me on clomid for cycle days 5-9 (I saw him on day 4, so it was the earliest he could prescribe it).  I am on it for having a luteal phase defect (too short).  I do ovulate, though. Has anyone taken clomid for this reason before??  Also, I seem to be very emotional (had a MAJOR crying breakdown because my freezer broke!!!) and had some hot flashes.  Is this normal on clomid or am I just emotional from all the ttc? :)  



Also, to Projectbaby - I mentioned our problem with EWCM too early and none/little was left when we ovulate, but he told me not to worry about that yet, to see how things go with the clomid first...sorry, I couldn't find out more...I'll keep you updated!

These are normal side effects.  I always got hot flashes until I oed.  Then I was fine.  I was never really emotional tho.  But it affects everyone different.

i am on my first month of Clomid too and i think i got those hot flashes some nights... i think its normal... also i became very moody and irritable and lazy & what not hahahaa.... im on cd27 now and still no AF im keeping my fingers crossed & eyes too if it'd help... just his am, i woke up with a terrible headache but i dont want to drink meds becoz i dont know if im pregg or not....

First Cylcle of Clomid.  I was on Clomid 100mg on Days 3-7.  (AF only came on Days 1 and 2 - very heavy and clotty, like it had totally stripped my uterine wall)  I experienced some pressure/pain down where the ovaries are after the second day of taking it - the follicles must have been growing.  On the third day, I had an argument with my husband and I cried uncontrollably for hours (he was not consoling, so he was just a ****) and I spoke of suicide.  Then those feelings passed the next day like I never said them before!  I'm quite happy right now actually and I've forgiven my husband's turdy behavior!  The days have been quite hot, but I think I did have hot flashes too.  Suddenly I'd break out in sweat - my forehead would be wet.

So, yeah, these side effects are normal according to my doc.

At the U/S on Day 11, he found 2 follicles on my right 15mm, 18mm; and 3 on my left at 10mm each.  My lining was too thin at 4.2mm.  So he let me grow for a few more days and I got a shot of Ovidrel on Day 12 to stimulate ovulation and on Day 14 I got an IUI.  I had a bit of spotting after the IUI and some cramping.  But today, Day 15, I'm feeling just fine.  So, hope all works out.  DH and I have been TTC for 18 months.

Hello!!!  Thank you so much for asking your Dr. and I am sorry you didn't get enough info. from him.... Clomid does effect your CM, so  you may not get EWCM with using clomid... I know it dried me right up!!(I know tmi!!!) but I was on it for 6 cycles!!!  I never got any side effect from this but I was only on 50mg...  What mg. are you going on???   It did make me lots of large ripe eggs!!!  I got pg. on the first round!!!  (unfort.  I m/c at 8 weeks)  but it does work!!!  Good Luck to you!!! That's when I took it...days 5-9!!!  sounds like you are doing the right thing!!!  Are you going to a specialist???  Jacquie

I am now on my 4th month of clomid. The fisrt month was oon 50mg, I only got hot flashes and severe mood swings, month #2 was upped to 100mg, hot flashes, severe mood swings and major headaches, back down to 50 mg for the past 2 cycles and mild hot flashes, still moody and no headaches. I am on cd19 right now, I o'd on cd12, BD on cd11. I am haveing very tender boobs, dizzy off and on, very hungry, heartburn, sleepy. It is too early to test even though I did today and it was a BFN, AF is not due for another 8-9days. UGH! I hate waiting!
