Posted by HFHS M.D.-SW on August 09, 1999 at 16:04:23 Dear Spirtforu, The symptoms you described, anxiety, obssessions, depression and panic attacks, may be treated with Zoloft and Ativan. Your doctor apparently has started you on gradually increasing doses of Zoloft inorder to avoid side effects. Zoloft will take at least 3-4 weeks to improve your symptoms. Ativan works immediately but only for the anxiety. A problem with Ativan is that patients may need to increase the dosage to reach the same effect. This is called tolerance. Your doctor may decrease the Ativan once the Zoloft takes effect. It is important to follow up with your psychiatrist. Sincerely, HFHS M.D.-SW *Keywords: Zoloft, depression, anxiety
