I was an air conditioning tech untill 12/28/98. I was exposed to what I'm told was possibly phosgene gas. And possibly cadium copper silver during welding of freon systems.I have been very confused easily agitated and have been hospitalized to a mental health hosp. released 1/20/99 I'm being treated for severe depression with homicidal, sucidal tendencies. My main complaint is constant headache, constant very high pitched ringing in ears and sometimes low pitched ringing at the same time.I'm currently taking PAXIL 10mg, NEURONTIN,300mg 2xday,and Zyprexa 10mg at night.I also see bright flashes of white round light when eyes are closed .Heavy exertion and blood pounds in left ear and vision gets light a very light black "static " in time with heartbeat. I'm scheduled for a nuerologist on 2/17/99. Any advice of what the doctors should know. Prior history of mild depression.

Dear Robert,

It is unclear if your symptoms are organic, psychological, or a combination of both, especially given your previous history of depression.

Phosgene or phosphine toxicity can cause a number of neuro-psychiatric symptoms; such as headaches, visual disturbances, and agitated psychotic behavior, to name a few. I am not aware of any neuro-psychiatric manifestations of cadmium toxicity. It is important to continue working with your neurologist and psychiatrist, as they continue to evaluate your symptoms.

I hope you find this information helpful. It is provided for educational purposes only, and should not replace consultation with your doctors.
