Birth Control and Antidepressants

by PSA JEL, Oct 27, 1999 12:00AM
I am a 32 year old female currently taking an antidepressant Celexa.  One of the side effects is diarreha.  Since I am also taking birth control, will the diarreah from the side effect lessen the effectiveness of the birth control pills?

Dear PSA JEL,

There are no known drug-drug interaction between Celexa and birth control pills. Also, diarrhea from Celexa does not lessen the effectiveness of your birth control pills.

Sincerely,

HFHS MD - RG
