1ST TIME PAXIL USER FELT REALLY WEIRD

MY DOCTOR PUT ME ON PAXIL WHEN I EXPLAINED TO HIM THAT I WAS HAVING TROUBLE SLEEPING AND UNDER A LOT OF STRESS. I TOLD HIM I

WANTED SOMETHING THAT WOULDNT MAKE ME GROOGY, OR FEEL LISTLESS

I ASKED HIM FOR BUSPAR. HE SAID BUSPAR DOESNT WORK. AND SAID PAXIL SHOULD BE FINE. I DIDNT REALLY AGREE WITH HIM BECAUSE I KNEW THAT PAXIL IS FOR DEPRESSION, AND OCD WHICH I DON'T HAVE EITHER. I WENT HOME AND TOOK IT ANY WAY IT WAS 20mg AT FIRST I FELT FINE BUT THEN I GOT REALLY NEASEUS AND DROWSY, SO I WENT TO BED BUT I WOKE UP TWICE AN HOUR AND I WAS DIZZY THEN I GOT A REALLY BAD HEADACHE. THE WHOLE NEXT DAY I WAS DIZZY. I WENT TO BED EARLY. AND FINNALLY THE DIZZINESS WENT AWAY BUT IM STILL REALLY TIRED. WAS THIS TOO HIGH A DOSE FOR ME OR DID IT JUST TOTALLY DISAGREE WITH ME? IM AFRAID TO TRY IT AGAIN. DOES BUSPAR WORK. SHOULD I REALLY BE ON THAT INSTEAD?

With the limited information provided, it is difficult to ascertain what your exact diagnosis is. Treatment with Paxil is usually initiated at a dose of 20 mg per day. It may cause all the side effects that you report, but these usually resolve within one week. You may find it helpful to seek evaluation by a psychiatrist, as successful treatment will be dictated by the correct diagnosis.

I know for me it took trying many different antidepressants, before I found the right one, from what my doc told me buspar takes 2 weeks before you"ll notice any thing, I also tried buspar but was told it wouldn't work for me, but I also had no side effects with it either,Im not a doc but its worth a try? good luck!

It takes two weeks to a month for paxil to really work. When I first started taking it I was tired and yawning a lot. That went away after a couple of weeks and then I felt better. I also stopped crying constantly and was able to stay calm in situations where I was usually anxious. Paxil is now used for social anxiety syndrome as well as depression and ocd. It might not be the right medication for you, but you would need to take it for more than one day for the therapeutic effect to even occur.

I was on Paxil two years ago.  When I found it didn't help my problem and I no longer was seeing that same doctor, I decided to stop taking it.  That is when I had real problems.  Every time I moved my head, it felt like it was spinning.  I was so disoriented and couldn't remember how to drive my car.  I had to wein myself off little by little, and by six months, I was down to half a pill a month.  I guess it's not for everyone.  I don't remember my dosage, and I'm glad to get off of those pills.

I started taking paxil about five months ago. I know that it hasn't been that long, but I feel great. I use it for social anxiety. Before they put me on the medication, I could barely talk to anyone without getting nervous, and trying to avoid the conversation. At night when I closed my eyes, I would get heart pulpitations and feel dissy, not wanting to go to sleep because I was afraid I wouldn't wake up. I would never come forward with my problems because I was too scared. Since I have taken Paxil, everything is cured and I feel like a whole new person. My dosage is 10 mlg and I take ie twice a day. It may not work for everybody. I guess it depends on which disorder you are facing.

At first, I did get tired every time I took it, but now I am used to it. I can do nothing but thank my doctor for prescribing it for me.
