Alcohol and Paxil

I have a question...

I weigh around 340 lbs and smoke on a regular basis I have been drinking rum everynight for the last 5 yrs.  I go through about 3-4 (sometimes 5-6) 2 liter bottles a week atleast.  I also take 800mg of Motrin almost everyday.  I do drink quite a bit of water but do NOT excercise.  I also get real bad migranes and take medicine for this when it gets real bad. Recently my doctor put me on 25mg of Paxil (I have been taking it for the last 6 weeks like I am suppose to).  At first I slowed my drinking down but now I am back to the volume I have been at over the last 5 yrs.  My husband says that I get so drunk the I urinate myself and the bed and I passout whereever.  He also says I am dying and I tell him he doesn't know what he is talking about.... he says that I can die from drinking so much that I am killing my liver.  Is he right... how do I know how much longer I have.  He mentioned something about cirrhosis of the liver or alcohol liver disease. And said that this will kill me.  How long does it take once you have this that it will kill you if you keep drinkingc at the level I drink at?  And now with me taking the Paxil and still doing everything else I am wondering if he is right?

I look forward to your response please e-mail me at ***@****

Thank you -

In terms of health you are doing absolutely everything wrong and you are in the process of killing yourself. Once you get cirrhosis it is irreversible, and at certain stages becomes progressive so you better go to your doctor right away and check it out...and you should see someone who can advise you about how to start changing what you are doing if you want to live.  Paxil is the least of your problems and won't make a dent in the work you have to do for yourself.

I recently stopped taking Paxil. I had never been a big drinker before, but I noticed a big increase in drinking while I was taking Paxil. Maybe Paxil lessened my anxiety about drinking (alcohol dependency in family) No easy answer to this, find someone, Dr., Counselor or AA to help you stop, before your health is forever affected.
