Hi. I have postpartum depression and was put on 10 mg of lexapro. I really started to feel better (normal) but then I got depressed again. My doctor increased my meds to 20 mg and I started to feel normal again but the depression came back again but not as bad. Like I can still function and I'm not crying but it's definately still there (make sense?) It's like I'll feel good for days but it doesn't last so I'm wondering do i need to up my dose again or is this a normal part of the recovery process? I have a very fast metabolism so I don't know if that effects my dosage needs. By the way I was on lexapro 10 mg for 3 weeks, 15 mg for 1 week and 20 mg for 2 weeks. Thankyou! I'm really hoping to be back to normal soon. Do I sound like I'm going in the right direction?

It sounds good to me in the sense that the medication is taking the edge of your distress, and now you should be doing the psychological work of adapting to your newest child and the role this child plays in your life plan. Don't count on the medicine to mask the adaptive work you need to do consciously.
I have GAD.
I have been feeling better already and they told me it would take a week or two to kick in.
I was on Zoloft for about 9 months last year and that took about a month to kick in.
I will let you know how this feels after a week or two and if I experience my symptoms again.
My doctor told me I will only need to take the Lexapro for 3 months.
