Subject: Re: Encephalitis A week and a half ago I posted a question about my mother's condition. The doctors believe that she has encephalitis. Her symptoms: at first horrible headaches and stroke-like symptoms (numbness on her write side, slurred speech, blacking out and not know who anyone was or where she was), now she has suffered short-term memory loss, she sleeps much of the time, and her concentration is very poor. She is improving, however, slowly but surely, with physical and occupational therapy) She has had various tests, CAT scans, brain wave tests, and 3 spinal taps. All the tests showed nothing except for the spinal taps. The spinals showed an elevated white blood cell count which made the doctors believe that it is a virus and also one of these tests showed swelling of the brain. If you have any information, please let me know. Thank you. See answer under other posting R. Goldsmith
