Question Title: foot pain (below the knee at the calf and at the bottom of the sole)

Forum: Neurology Forum
Topic: Pain

Since 3 to 4 yrs,I am having sever pain in my calf muscles and also I have
pain at my lower limbs. When I stand or walk it pains at my ankle also.
I am suffering from this pain 24 hrs a day, it never stops.

My Dr. suggested anti-deperasants like ampitryptiline, zolaft etc. But
when I take these medications, my pain grows. so every time I had to stop
taking these mediacations. I did bone scan - which is normal.
All the blood tests are done including CKP test - which is normal too.
No pain killer(Ibuprofene, daypro) reduces my pain.
I did physical therapy also - did not help.
X-rays also are normal.
Now my doctor says "He doesnot know what to do?"
Due to this pain I cant pay much attention to my other works.
I think my leg pain should be studied by /researchers or research institute.
I have lost the hope. ANY SUGGESTION will be of great help?
Thanks,

-Sanjay Ghodke

Thanks for the question. You first need to have a complete neurologic history and physical examination. It is possible that you are suffering from a peripheral neuropathy (nerve damage after the nerve has left the spinal cord) or an intraspinal canal lesion (problem within the spinal canal). Tests to be considered are an EMG (electromyography test) and an MRI. If you would like a referral to CCF call 216 444 5559.
