I have suffered from Chronic Clusters and co-existing Migraines for the past 13months. My symptoms have been refractory to prescribed tx as of this time. During a recent admission, a repeat MRI was performed due to a slightly unsteady gait. A Chiari type 1 malformation was identified. The neurosurgeon did explain that occur in approx 5% of the population. She further described the surgical approach (suboccipital craniectomy with duroplasty). The question if this procedure would be beneficial to me is what I care to focus on. She thought this might give me a 30% chance of alleviating my sx. The cerebellar tonsils are 6mm. What is your experience with this malformation and intervention for pain control? Thank you.
