Posted by VICKI on May 05, 1999 at 09:26:41 I have Charcot-Marie-Tooth and recently I have had a neurovagus episode in which I blacked out. The next day I had extreme pressure bands around my knees and elbows and numbness in my lower legs and hands. This continued for three days and has left me with noticably weaker extremities. Will this continue to weaken my muscles or do you think they will recover?
Posted by CCF Neuro MD MM on May 05, 1999 at 13:46:32 The type of event you mention (a vasovagal attack ) is a brief transient event which causes fainting due to the activity of the vagus nerve which slows down the heart rate and drops the blood pressure. There is no direct relationship between the function of the vagus nerve and the sort of symptoms you mention
