: Is there a hereditary relationship between a daughter who experienced epileptic seisures as a teen and a father who most likely suffers from Sleep Apnea?
The father has the symptoms of SAS and he falls in and out of sleep within seconds.
I am amazed how fast he falls asleep and of course snores quite loud. I almost thought he had narcolepsy because if how fast he falls asleep. I was wondering is
there was any relation to sleep disorders and seisures in families. Thank you.

Dear Cindy,
siezures may run in families. Sleep apnea sundrome is also usally seen in families but it is related to obesity
which tends to be hereditary rather than sleep apnea itself. Occasionaly people with seizures may also have sleep apnea
and may experience more seizures during the night when the oxygen in their
blood may fall below a critical level. I am not aware of any link between seizures in one
family member and sleep apnea in another although they may occur simultaneously in one family.
