: I have been experiencing gradually worsening visual disturbances in the form of flickering shapes of light for the past 18 months. The disturbance is over the whole field of vision and appears exactly the same in both visual fields.
______ ______ Dear Craig, Hello, Well this is not a simple one. It is difficult to give advice on symptoms like yours with the amount of info that you provided. It sounds like you havea had a very complete battery of tests. Your question about the occipital lobe is a valid one. The occipital lobe can cause seizures which appear like flashing light or unformed objects but usually they are not in both eyes adn in the complete visual field of both eyes. Sometimes it it necessary to do a longer EEG or one with special leads to find the problem in the occiptial lobe, if there is one. I wish that I could help you more! Take Care!
