Sorry we let this one sneak through without answering sooner. I'm not sure if you gave us more information previously or not. I'm not sure what the exact clinical story is but if your doctors are concerned with trigeminal neuralgic type pain then you should review the multitude of questions previously answered in that regard. I assume that you are also taking medication and if not a trial of tegretal should be given. This could be pushed to about 1200 mg. Other medications to try include neurontin or baclofen. Dilantin has also be used with some relief. There are a number of surgical options or ablative procedures but carry risks. Your best bet is to seek an opinion at an institution that treats these types of disorders. At the CCF Dr. Barnett in the department of neurosurgery has the most experience in that regard. For a consultation you can call 216 4445670. This information is provided for general medical education purposes only.
