: I'm a mid 20's healthy male, and am suffering from weakness & fatigue.
I feel weakness in all my limbs & extremities , and the muscles
twitch rapidly when under moderate strain and my movements become jerky.
Although my arm (for example) feels tired holding a cup of coffee,
I can lift a fair weight, although it feels very tired afterwards
and aches. Occasionally a relaxed muscle twitches briefly.
I find it hard to stand for a long time, and get back and neck aches
when sitting or driving. I'm fine going up stairs but going down I
can feel my thighs twitching. I never feel like I've had enough
sleep, and don't feel refreshed in the morning.
I also have a very dry, slimy mouth, and keep having to clear my throat to
speak without obstruction.

I visited the doctor who performed blood tests for anemia and thyroid
problems which were fine. The conclusion was that it was due to stress
and that vitamins and relaxation would help. I did a web search and found
all kinds of things from Lymes to Lou Gherigs disease and MS.

Any ideas? This has been going on for 2 or 3 months now and I'm getting
concerned that it's not 'just stress'.

Dear Davidoff,
Your symptoms could represent a whole host of different problems, I would start with a Neuromuscular
specialist in that they can evaluate is this is a muscle problem or nerve problem, it would be very unususal for MS to cause muscle twitching.
We have a neuromuscular department here, appointment is 216-444-5559. Muscle problems can cause twitching a fatigue and weakness.
It is very difficult with the information you have given to explain exactly what is causing your symptoms. There are so many other details that are relevant that an office
visit could help to determine where is the origin of the problem.
Take Care!
