Dear Mariano,

It sounds like your physicians are doing the correct workup for Lucio's condition.
There are many things that can cause developmental delay and seizures in children.
It is difficult to completely assess the situation over the internet.

One big decision point in such cases is whether Lucio is a candidate for surgery
or whether medical management is appropriate. There can be subtle abnormalities
on the MRI that, when correlated with EEG findings, may be amenable to surgery.
Also, according to your note, Lucio has not seized since August 1996. This
would be an argument against any surgical options, if they were being considered,
as the frequency of seizures is low.

You should speak to your physician and get some clear answers as to Lucio's
condition and prognosis. If you cannot, then a second opinion may be considered.

Good luck.
