: Would anyone know the status and prognosis of an infant with the diagnosis = It is difficult at the best of times to predict the prognosis of perinatal encephalopathy, in this case since the cause (genesis ) is not only unspecified but is made of a mixture of unspecified factors the task becomes practicallt impossible. I am unsure as to the meaning of the phrases "residual period in the form of intracranial hypertension " and " periventricular coronary disease " does this refer to the ventricles of the heart or brain ? In general the finding of intracranial hypertension in the context of encephalopathy in newborns is a strong predictor of some problems with psychomotor delay in later life, but without knowing the background cause or degree it is not possible to make any further comment or prediction. The best option I feel in this case would be to have a full evaluation, with review of all records, scans etc by a pediatric neurologist if this has not been done already. If you wish to have a second opinion from a pediatric neurologist here at the Cleveland Clinic the number for appointments is (216 )444 5559, if you are in a position to clarify the medical terms mentioned above we would be glad to try again to explain them.
