Dear Bob,

I reviewed the current literature and could not find one specific drug listed that has been shown recently to be more effective in both ALS and MS. If you can find the source and name of the drug that you heard about I could give you more information regarding the medication. I did, however, find reference of a fairly extensive protocol that did show improvement or stabilization of the MS and ALS in the patients tested. The immunomodulating protocol included monthly therapy with plasmaphoresis followed by 3 day treatment with IVIG and low dose methylprednisolon, cyclophosphamide, interferon a, interferon g, octreotide, and cyclophosphamide. As you can see, the protocol involves multiple medications/therapy. I have not seen the protocol routinely performed.
