: I have face pain for 16 yrs. and have been to many doctors and been on many meds.
= If your facial pain started with a tooth extraction then it is probably due to damage to the a branch of the trigeminal nerve, this nerve gives sensation to the skin of one side of the face and controls the muscles ivolved in chewing. Damage to the nerve could cause either intermittent or continuous pain in the area supplied by the nerve and abnormal activty of the muscles supplied by the nerve (including cramps). Trigeminal nerve problems can come and go without any obvious precipitating cause and it is usually not possible to know why a particular attack occurrs.
