As a school psychologist, I have seen some childs with cerebellum troubles and I would like to know if there is some evidences of behavior troubles like attention deficit, hyperactivity or control troubles that can be related to cerebellum. many thanks = Francois. An intersting question. Some children affected by disorders that damage the cerebellum, especially the surface or cortex of the cerebellum, may also have damage to the cortex or surface of the rest of the brain or cerebrum. The cerebellar damage itself may make one ataxic or clumsy. Other symptoms of such ataxia may include an inability to stop onesself from falling or regaining balance quickly after being pushed, and trouble with walking--- the affected person often walks as if they are intoxicated with alcohol (alcohol affects cerebellar function more quickly than other parts of the brain). I would not let any of your students (or their parents) use cerebellar ataxia as an excuse for personality-related behavioral problems, and know of no reports that would medically substantiate such a claim.
