: I AM ON THE WAY TO THE CCF. I HAVE WRITTEN BEFORE. IN GATHERING UP MY RECORDS MY WIFE RAN INTO THE NEUROLOGIST WHO FIRST SAW ME FOR THE TBI I HAD. HE HAS BEEN TREATING SOME FIBROMYALGIA PATIENTS WITH IV LIDOCAINE INFUSIONS. HAVE YOU HEARD OF THIS? Frank, This procedure is called a "BAER" block and is sometimes successful in treating chronic pain localized to a particular extremity, and the infusion is usually confined to the affected limb with a tourniquet in place. It is an option to consider in otherwise recalcitrant chronic pain, but any infusion of IV lidocaine acrries the risks of seizures and potentially fatal arrhythmias of the heart; thus, this is not a first line treatment. We look foreward to seeing you when you arrive to CCF, and hope that you will find your visit to us worthwhile. See you soon.
