My doctor has just prescribed neurontin for myokymia and I know very little about this drug. Would you explain your experiences with neurontin in reference to successes and side effects, etc. Thank you.

Dear Ellie:
Neurontin (gabapentin) is a relatively newe medication that was originally approved by the FDA as an add on therapy for partial seizures. Since then, multiple non epileptic uses have been reported. These indications include various neuropathic pain syndromes, trigeminal neuralgia, and myokymia (as in your case).
The known side effects within the recommended doses so far are minimal. They include nausea and stomach upset.
I hope this information is usefull to you
Good luck
