Question Title: Who at Clinic has experience?Forum: Neurology Forum
| ||||
Thanks in advance for your advice. First, we suspect Acute Intermittant Porphyria and wonder which Department at Cleve Clinic we should contact: Hematology, Endocrinology, or Neurology? Second, who in the proper Dept has experience with AIP? = AIP is quite rare, and I personally have never seen one, though have considered it as a diagnosis in some patients. If symptoms suggest neuropathy (weakness, numbness, etc), see a neuromuscular specialist within the department of neurology. If symptoms of mental confusion and/or seizures, see an epileptologist in the department of neurology here. If symptoms primarily gastrointestinal (abdominal pain, etc) without much in the way of neurologic involvement, then I would see a gastroenterologist. Does your primary doctor have any suggestions regarding the type of specialist you'd like to see? Maybe that would be a good starting point. For neurology appointments, call 800 223-2273 and ask for 4-5559. I hope this helps. CCF MD mdf.
