Question Title: Benign Fasciculation syndrome

Forum: Neurology Forum
Topic: Neuromuscular

I have been told I have benign fasciculation syndrome. Can you clarify a point? Can these twitches last over the course of several years, even a lifetime. Or if they continue for many years does that mean that there is an underlying disease?(ALS, MS etc)

=
Fasciculations themselves can be present for years and not associated with a malignant condition. As with all disease entities they usually progress along a continuum. If you were to develop new symptoms then you would require a new evaluation. If you do in fact have benign fascics then this condition may last but not cause other problems.
