Question Title: Testicle Pain

Forum: Neurology Forum
Topic: Neuropathy

I have been diagnosed w/peripheral neuropathy most likely due to herniated discs (lower back). But I am also experiencing severe testicle/scrotum pain. Urological tests showed nothing abnormal. Could the PN or herniated discs be causing this pain?

Dear Steve,

Herniated discs do not cause scrotal pain. They may cause numbness and weakness
in the legs and variable degrees of back pain, but not scrotal pain. Other
things to consider would be abdominal hernias and urinary infections. A urologist
would be a useful resource in this regard.

Also, peripheral neuropathy is classically described as numbness in a 'stocking
and glove' distribution and is usually due to diabetes. It is not associated
with disc disease and represents pathology at a different level of the nervous
system. That is, peripheral neuropathies involve nerves distant to the spinal cord
causing numbness in the hands and feet.

You are either misunderstanding your physician or you are getting bad information
altogether. Speak with your physician again for some clear answers, if you
cannot get good answers, then seek a second opinion, preferably with a neurologist.

Good luck.
