Question Title: Nausea and vomiting w/out migraineForum: Neurology Forum
| |
For over a month now, I have had constant nausea with some vomiting. I get severe headaches every now and then. I have had a cat scan and MRI done and both are normal. One doctor says it is migraines the other disagrees. Is it possible that my constant nausea even when I don't have a headache is a migraine? If not, what else could it be?
Thanks for the question. It is possible for patients to have migraine related problems even if they do not have a HA but it is very rare. Nausea can be caused by things other than HA so that should certainly be investigated. Patients with migraine will at time develop very persistant HA with nausea that is very difficult to treat as an outpatient. I'm glad to hear that the MRI scan was normal. I think your doctor should explore other avenues to determine where your problem might be. If nothing can be found then aggressive migraine treatment should be undertaken. The first step would be a complete history and physical examination. If you wish an evaluation at CCF call 216 444 5559. This information is provided for genral medical education purposes.
