Question Title: ?Syringomyelia secondary to arachnoiditis

Forum: Neurology Forum
Topic: Arachnoiditis

I have a tentative diagnosis of arachnoiditis (based on clinical symptoms and signs),secondary to congenital stenosis, laminectomy and Depo-medrol epidural.
I have had lumbar and leg pain/tingling/numbness/slight weakness for 2 years,as well as neurogenic bladder.
For the last few months I have had pain in my thoracic region (between the shoulder blades)sharp pain in front of chest radiating to armpits;pain in both arms, with increasing fatiguing of my muscles on activity eg peeling potatoes.i have also been getting tingling in both hands, sweating and hot things feel cold.I believe that these symptoms may suggest that a syrinx is forming and this is an uncommon condition that can occur secondary to arachnoiditis.I had an MRI of my neck, which was normal, and blood tests ruled out inflammatory myopathy.
I have recently moved areas and have been told that the waiting list to see a specialist is 6 months plus.
Do you think that my new symptoms could suggest a syrinx and if so,should I push for an earlier appointment or go privately.I have explained my symptoms to my GP,but he is not knowledgeable about arachnoiditis, and has not even examined me.
i would be grateful for your advice.thanks.
