Question Title: Discogram to aggrevate arachnoiditis?Forum: Neurology Forum
| ||||
My Dr. is planning fusion after recurrent herniations and DDD. My most recent myelogram and hi-resolution MRI have diagnosed Arachnoiditis. In order to make abolutely sure of the various problems prior to fusion, my Md is planning to do a discogram and specific nerve root blocks while he's there. Is this type of testing and steroid blocking contraindicated with arachnoiditis? Thank you. __ __ Dear Judy, The procedures your physician has planned may aggravate your arachnoiditis, depending on how active it is when these procedures are done. You probably won't have a problem with these procedures, but if you do, it can be treated medically. Speak to your physician in this regard and see what his assesment of the risk may be. Your physician must weigh the risk of doing the procedure against the benefit gained by doing it. Good luck.
