Question Title: My son has rapid head growth connected with hydrocephalusForum: Neurology Forum
| ||||
My 2mth old (DOB 6/1) son has been followed by a ped. neurosurgeon at Ar. Childrens Hospital for Hydrocephalus. He has three ultra sounds which show that his ventricles are enlarged but his pressure is within normal range. At birth his head was 39 cm and now is at 45 cm. He had a ultar sound on June 29 and one today Aug. 24. the ventricles are more enlarged, but the doctor is not wanting to do the shunt surgery. I was involved in a car wreck when I was 7 mths pregnant. I had a fractured pelvis in two places, internal injuries to my bladder. Could this have caused the Hydrocephalus? Do normally patients with what I'm assuming to be NPH but with rapid head growth require the shunt surgery? If so when is the time to do the surgery, can you wait to long. Will his head go back to it's normal shape and will or could he have brain damage? Check out the reply in your other listing of this question.
