At Cleveland Clinic, we have a Spine Center which involves neurologists and neurosurgeons who specialize in complex cases. If you were to see one of these specialists, you would be interviewed and examined, and the films and all other data (please bring it with you) would be reviewed. No one can say whether they'd find anything the other doctors have missed, but it is possible. They are usually pretty conservative, so they are not likely to suggest surgery. However, if surgery would be beneficial, you would find out. More likely, they will prescribe conservative treatment involving physical therapy and other approaches. In all likelihood, you would also see someone in the pain management center, which is a multidisciplinary group of specialists. Your problem is so complex that I don't imagine any way around that. No one can guarantee success. However, our experience is that a systematic approach to complex problems often is helpful. If you are interested, you are welcome to call 800 223-2273 and ask for neurology appointments at ext 4-5559. Tell them you want the spine center. Also mention that you would like to coordinate a pain management center appointment on the same day, so it can all be scheduled in advance. You may need to go through some extra phone calls, but at least that gets you started. I hope this helps. CCF MD mdf.
