My father has just lost vision in both of his eyes and he has been diagnosed with optical neuritis... He was told he will get his sight back but it has been 2 months now and his sight has not gotten any better.. He has had all the test for ms and they have come up negative... Any suggestions as where we should go from here?? It would be appreciated

Optic neuritis often, but not always, gradually recovers. I am surprised that it happened in both eyes at the same time. Usually one expects just one eye to be involved.

Whenever sight is involved, I have a low threshold for asking for a second opinion. You want to see either a neuro-opththalmologist or an MS specialist (not simply a neurologist who happens to treat MS).

If you are interested, you are welcome to come to CCF for a second opinion. Call 800 223-2273 and ask for neurology appointments at 4-5559. The MS specialists are associated with the "Mellen Center" which is operated by the department of neurology.

I hope this helps. CCF MD mdf.
