Question Title: Occipital Neuroctpony

Forum: Neurology Forum
Topic: Pain

I have a friend that was told he has to have a procedure done called Occipital
Neuroctpony. His wife asked me to gather some information from the net.
If it is not a problem please give us a brief explanation of what he has
to look forward to. He has an appointment 9/28/98 and they would like some
insight as to what the doctor may tell them.
Thank You
Allen Rivet

Well my guess is you have the spelling wrong. I'm only guessing but maybe they are talking about an occipital neurectomy where the occipital nerve is cut. This is done to control cervical neck disease related pain or occipital nerve pain at times. I assume they would have previously had nerve blocks in that area. Remember that nerve sectioning is permanent. Hope this helps you find what you are looking for.
