Question Title: Neurogenic Bladder...Any cures???Forum: Neurology Forum

Dear Doctors: I have posted questions in this forum on three occassions and have been impressed with your answers, and appreciate your time and help. My previous questions have been related to the process I am going through of possibility of MS. I am going to the Mayo Clinic in a month for a complete work over, but have a question in the meantime. I have been only concerned with finding out if I have MS or not, but now I'd like to concentrate on treating my symptoms. I was diagnosed with Neurogenic Bladder about four months ago. I had a UTI for about 10 weeks that couldnt be cured by many anti-biotics. When urologist diagnosed neuro. bladder, I started self-cath. Reason I couldnt get rid of infection was because of urine retention. Presently I self-cath about 8 times per day with goal of no more than 500 cc each time. I was rid of infection for about 3 weeks, and now have one back. My question is: what can be done for the bladder dysfunction? Does it really matter if I have MS or not as far as treatment goes? I'd like to know of any optiions. My PC Doc told me about a med (ditropan?) but still wont put me on it. Is medicine an option, or surgery, or is there anything that can help me? I also have hematuria (known for 3 yrs). I dont know if this is related to bladder problems or not. Tests and results so far are: Negative Cat Scan Do you know what can alleviate bladder problems? Also, any meds for fatigue? What do you suggest for me at this point? Thanks again for all your help, I'm a big fan of your service! SEE ABOVE POST
