Leg pain

by Richard56, Jun 29, 2003 12:00AM
Approximately four days ago, my legs started aching.  I thought I might have slept wrong and cut off my circulation.  But the pain has increased. Now the pain has settled inside and behind my right knee causing constant pain.  I am worried about a blood clot.  I am a 56 year old male, overweight, but in good health otherwise.  What could be causing this pain?

Blood clot certainly a possibility, especially if there is swelling and you have a clotting problem related to genetic disorder, cancer, or pills you may be taking. If you have cardiac/stroke risk factors like heart disease, cholesterol problems, tobacco history or diabetes, there may be insufficent blood and oxygen going down to your legs due to clogged blood vessels. A pinched nerve may also be a possibility as well as a primary muscle problem, but get to your primary care doc for a thorough evaluation of your legs to make sure none of the more serious problems I mentioned (blood clot, clogged blood vessels)are truly the cause of your pain. GOod luck.
