Hi, I posted earlier on this, but have a new question now. I am a 24 yr old female who was diagnosed with a cavernous angioma about a month ago. My neurologist did an MRI, and it was an incidental finding on it. Well, he decided to do an MRA, and gave me a follow up appointment. At my follow up appointment, he told me he thought this thing wasn`t doing anything. He said it hadn`t grown, and he really couldn`t tell if it had bled or not. It was a possibility, but he wasn`t sure. He said that it was 1 cm in size, located deep within the frontal lobe. He said he wanted to send me to a neurosurgeon just to be sure. Well, as I was leaving, he told me he had first thought this was a cavernous angioma, but now he wasn`t so sure. I was like "huh?" Because he acted like that`s what it was at first... he said the neurosurgeon could get a better look and tell me more.... If this isn`t a cavernous angioma, what else could it be? He said there was a long list of vascular malformations. It didn`t appear to have grown, and he couldn`t tell if it had bled. I seen the films, and it appeared kinda pop corn shaped to me like I`ve read CA can be. Is this likely to be a vascular malformation due to size and location?? Or is this likely to be something else, like a cancerous tumor?? The radiologist first noted it as a cavernous angioma. The neurosurgeon has also already seen my films, and hasn`t contacted me about anything. However I haven`t seen him for my appointment yet. I`m confused now... thanks...

Without looking at the films, I cannot tell you what it is. Other lesions which could possibly look like a cavernous hemangioma include a arterio-venous malformation or venous angioma. The neurosurgeon should be able to give you a final opinion. Good luck.

Thanks for your post, no I`m afraid I haven`t gotten any new news yet. I won`t know anything until July 6 when I see a neurosurgeon. I`ll post my results on here after I get them though. Thanks for your post, take care...
