An amalgam of seemingly incoherent symptoms

by potential_hypochondriac, Jun 19, 2004 12:00AM
Hi. I'm 18 years old, male. A few months ago, I began to notice some clicking in my neck when I moved it back and forth. There was no associated pain or symptoms, so I didn't worry very much, and after a while the clicking seemed to stop for the most part. But a few weeks ago I began to develop TMJ. In addition, I've noticed a little neck stiffness and the occasional dull ache in the back of my head. I've also noticed that sometimes, if I hold my neck in a certain position, it will click of its own accord, without any neck movement.

And then yesterday, I noticed that I had developed tongue fasciculations.

I have noticed no associated weakness. After extensively searching the internet, I could find no disorder matching these symptoms. Could a large portion of these symptoms merely be the result of neck tension? Since the fasciculations were not accompanied by weakness, is it likely that they are benign? Does anyone have any idea what ailment(s) I could be suffering from?

Thank you for your help.

I would recommend that you see your primary care doctor to have this looked at. The tongue has a normal amount of movement, and this may not actually be tongue fasciculations. The neck clicking may also be benign. Without examining you I can not determine this. Good luck.
