Pain after EMG

by TinaO, Jul 25, 2004 12:00AM
I had an EMG study performed 7/19/04 of both arms and cervical area secondary to radicular symptoms.  During the test he inserted the needle into my cervical area sending a sharp/ burning pain into my right arm.  Since then, I have experienced an increase in symptoms bilaterally as well as severe headaches, cervical and upper back pain.  My question is, will this "calm down"?  I am currently taking ketorolac and amitriptyline.

You should call your doctor if this pain is persisting. Typically the discomfort associated with a EMG should just last a few days. Your doctor may wish to see you back in the clinic to make sure everything is okay. Good luck.
