Help!!!

by viks2004, Nov 10, 2004 12:00AM
Hello,

I hope you can shed some light on my problem! Six months ago I had a near collapse whilst in work - Ifelt as if my head was being flooded and I could hardly move or speak, an ambulance came and the paramedics noted that I had low blood pressure.I was taken to the ER and discharged later with possible migraine, despite no actual headache I was tingling down my left side. These attacks continued for another week or so but not as severe, I then developed a headache a band of pressure arronund the back of my head, this was constant as was the whoosing feelings like I was going to pass out. I was admitted to hospital and had a CT scan- normal, again diagnosis migraines. Near collapses continued as did the headache with varing degrees of intensity. Following one particularly bad near collapse I went back to the ER and with 20 minutes of the attack I experienced the most horrific sudden onsetheadache.I was then admitted for a 3 week period during which I had an MRI scan & LP - both normal. I had a constant headache. My neurologist diagnosed rare form of migraine and started me on Topiramate.whilst on this I had a horrible feelings in my head like there was something tunneling through, lumps moving about etc that was stopped after 3 wks and citalopram started. I have been left with strange feelings in my head, creeping, dragging, movements and quivering inside my head&face, weakness down my left side, feeling like i am going to faint, muscle twitches mainly in legs, feeling like I am rocking to an fro, vibations in my right foot and generally feeling unwell - please help!!

Without reviewing your tests and examining you I cannot provide an accurate clinical diagnosis. I am assuming that your MRI was normal and included a MR angiogram, MR venogram, and a contrast study. If all of these images were normal, then it is possible that this represents a form of complicated migraine. Treatment with agents such as Elavil, Verapamil, and beta-blockers may help to prevent the headache. A consultation at an academic headache center would be reasonable. They may try various IV infusions and other combinations of medication in an attempt to break the headache. Good luck.

Dear viks2004,

What type of work do you do? Are you around any sort of chemicals or fumes? Sometimes problems can

start after working around fumes for a period of time. The body can become saturated with these chemicals

to the point of not being able to process them any more. You can write to me privately if you get this

message and would like to correspond. My e-mail address is on my site: http://yadtel.net/~jmelara

Please don't anyone dog me for posting my site. If it's a problem, just let me know kindly and I won't do it

any more. Thanks! : o )  Shyrell
