I was diagnosed with complicated migraines in 2001 that manifest with stroke-like symptoms. I'm having success with daily preventatives - aspirin 325MG, Verapamil 240MG 2 x day and Nortriptyline 45MG a day. Over the last 9 mos, I've developed a side to side movement of my eyes that lasts only seconds and primarily occurs when waking up or when very tired at the end of the day. My Neurologist believes I've developed oscillopsia. My question is...is this just another page to the whole migraine story or a precursor to something else? I've done some research on the internet about it and I'm finding it mentioned mostly on MS not Migraine web sites. Should I be concerned? Thanks for this service!

I was able to find one report within the literature about oscillopsia and migraine. MS typically causes a spot in the brain which causes eye movement abnormalities that would continue for hours to days. The intermittent nature of these symptoms make MS unlikely. Without examining you I cannot make a clinical diagnosis, but if the symptoms persist, having an evaluation by a neuro-opthalmologist would be reasonable. Good luck.

i too have experienced that rapid side to side movement early in the morning especially, and it clears quickly, and i have migraines as well. you are the first person that i have heard of that has had that symptom. i am waiting to see neurologist for the bouts of blindness but will interested to see if this is all related. keep us posted.
