RUQ pain

by hewie1, Nov 15, 2005 12:00AM
Hi, I’m F/51, I’ve had this problem for awhile now and it hasn’t gotten any better. I’ve felt more & more ill over last few years (30lb weight loss last 12mos despite high caloric intake) GI/colon studies shown inflammation but neg biopsies. Have severe constipation (slow motility), GERD/IBS, get lot nausea, bad fatigue, dizziness, faintness, passed out during 11/05 tilt table test after nitro. Blood tests mostly normal or slight abnormal except high ANA. Low BP.  I’m posting now re: liver/kidney lesions & increasing, tenderness, RUQ pain (occas. severe), am post cholectomy & total hysterectomy. Tests: 6/04  CT: 2 hypodense lesions R-lobe liver-one .8x1.1cm, one hemangiomas; 3 small renal hypodense lesions, one-L, two-R, indeterminate but likely cysts. US 5/05: 4 hyperechoic liver lesions range .5mm-1.8cm, one L-lobe, 3 R-lobe & a cyst, R-renal cyst 1.5cm, possible hemangiomas/cysts but can’t rule out other lesions. 5/05 CT-hemangioma protocol: possible hemangiomas/cysts. 11/05 CT: lowdensity liver lesions, one in L-lobe 2.5cm non-enhancing, one next to R-lobe portal vein 1cm & tiny one inferiorly. R-renal pelvis 1.5cm cortical cyst-fills w/contrast- compound calyx or caliceal diverticulum. This CT doesn’t mention any hemangiomas. Thus, now I’m confused & though I try to ignore all this..well…uh… Your thoughts on why I have this pain and suggestions on what to do? Warrant any other tests just to be sure? Thank you!  Linda

hi,sorry to hear about your problems . Has anyone checked your gall-bladder,your symptums sound alot like that. Do you get worse after eating fatty foods, or fried foods? It just might be worth checking in to. God bless you.

NOTE: LAST PART OF MY POST WAS MISSING... SO JUST TRYING TO ADD IT.

6/04 CT - 2 hypodense lesions R-lobe liver - .8x1/1cm, one <1cm, indeterminate but likely hemangioms. 5/05 US - 4 hyperechoic lesions ranging from .5 to 1.8cm, 1 in L-lobe, 2 in R-lobe, and a small liver cyst.  Also a R-renal 1.5cm cyst -possible hemangiomas but cannot rule out other lesions.  May this year - hemangioma protocol CT scan: impression basically same as US.

Couple weeks ago: followup CT low density lesions 1 in L-liver lobe 2.5cm non-enhancing, one 1cm next to R portal vein, tiny one inferiorly.  Also a 1.5cm R-renal pelvis lesion fills with constrast. Compound calix or calyceal diverticulum.  This last CT doesn't mention hemangiomas at all so now I'm confused.  Your thoughts on this?  Thanks much, Linda
