Neurological Condition ? - continuation of previous question........

by terrijean, Dec 23, 2006 12:00AM
Thank you for your previous reply.

I wanted to elaborate further what neurological symptoms I have been left with:

Vision problems (central loss?)& recently diagnosed (many floaters left eye)....light sensitivity...

Tremors (intention) - extremities, head and neck

Tingling & numbness all extremities

Headaches/migraines - pain behind left eye in particular/base of skull pain...

Severe neck pain

Dizziness/vertigo

Cognitive problems

Imbalance and coordination problems

Extremity spasms, cramping, and loss of sensation legs

Lower extremity - wasting

Facial numbness - right sided prn

Extremity - partial paralysis arm/leg, comes and goes

TN symptoms - in remission for 2 years on Neurontin

Bladder/bowel dysfunction

Sexual libido dysfunction

Ankles - 6 sprains this year with falling

Fatigue

I usually have what I call relapses seems to be 3-4 times a year, which will start with fatigue, disabling lifestyle, headaches with neck pain, increased dizziness, blurred vision, pain in my entire body (bones)like I have the flu etc.  Episodes last usually about 6 weeks or so.

This is a pattern which I have documented now for the past 3 1/2 years and felt I should further reiterate this with a second question.  My PMD told me this will never go away.

Should I take all my personal diary information to the Mellen Center along with all of my records including of course my scans, reports etc.?  I just don't want to give an impression that I am crazy and a hypochondriac or something in showing my diary especially.

Thank you so much for your time and help.........

First of all, keep in mind that I am unable to diagnose you because I am unable to examine you, this forum is for educational purposes.

The many of the symptoms that you describe are found to some degree in multiple sclerosis, but are not specific to this condition.  Also keep in mind that multiple sclerosis itself can present in different forms (relapsing-remitting, secondary progressive and primary progressive).  Since you are describing relapses, I would assume that relapsing-remitting would be of most concern.  The symptoms that you describe would suggest fairly advanced multiple sclerosis if this diagnosis is made.  I would definately bring your diary to your appointment.  The history very important (if not the most important) tool in making a diagnosis (of any kind, not just MS).  Having documentation of your history as you experienced it can be very helpful along with your MRI scans (actual films or CDs) and any other supporting information.

I hope this has been helpful.
