Large black/gray splotch on top of eye

by pierced_b0i, Jul 01, 2007 12:00AM
I looked in the mirror yesterday, and noticed I had a very large black/gray splotch on the top of my right eye in the white area. It sort of alarmed me so I looked online and found it could be the start of melanoma. I'm not taking that to heart until I go get it checked out, but it definitely shook me a little. The vision in my right eye seems to be a little blurrier then normal. Any ideas as to what could be the cause? I have never had any kind of eye injury; I just didn't know where exactly to post this.

Hello You definitely need it checked out by an Eye MD (ophthalmologist), in this case it is even more important than normal that the 'eye doctor' you see has a Doctor of Medicine (MD) degree after his or her name.

Statistically the area you see (lesion) is much more likely to be a non-malignant lesion than a melanoma. However do get it check for a diagnosis and peace of mind as soon as possible.
