Question Title: morning erections

Forum: The Urology Forum
Topic: Sexual Dysfunction

Hi!

I am a 30 year old male. I am about 10-15 lbs over weight. I have
noticed that I have not been getting early morning erections for
a long time now (more than a year atleast!).

In the last one week my erections have been less than rigid. Even
whie masturbating. I have not been feeling well in my stomach
for this time. I take prescription antacids regularly and also
irritable bowel syndrome medicine (Levsin) on and off.

On an average I masturbate 1-2 times a day. I am married and I have
sex 1-2 times a week.

Why do I not get early morning erections and could there be a
reason for less than rigid erections other than temporary ?

Thanks.

Roh.

Dear Rob,

Erectile dysfunction is a common problem. The incidence of difficulty with erections increases with age.The problem you describe, decreased rigidity may be due to the medication you are taking. Levsin is an anticholinergic medication which works by blunting the nerves that stimulate bladder and colon. It decreases the spasticity of the colon and bladder. Side effects include dry mouth, constipationand urinary retention as well as difficulty with erections.Discuss this possibility with your physician to consider altering your medical regimen.
