Three days ago, I noticed a dull pain in my left testicle. Over the last two days it has continued. In doing a self exam I found a marble sized mass that was not connected to the testicle but sitting next to it. That is certainly the cause of pain. Just about every movement causes some kind of pain. The general feel is that of the testicle being squeezed. Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated. I am planning on visiting my doctor as soon as possible ------------------------------------------------------------------------- Dear Doug, . What you have described to me is an extratesticular (outside the testicle) mass that is non tender and separate from the testicle. Most extratesticular masses are benign and do not need to be removed unless they cause you pain or discomfort however this needs to be confirmed by a urologist. A spermatocele is a cystic structure of the epididymus. The cyst itself is usually firm and nontender, though some are painful. It is usually filled with sperm and epididymal fluid. It is possible for it to lead to a decrease in fertility however this is uncommon. You should get an opinion from a urologist to make sure that you are not dealing with a cancer.
