= Thanks Gary H. for your question. In urology we call this urinary frequency ( We are not rocket scientist.). It can be caused by diseases which primarily affect other organ systems or solely the urinary tract. A few of which are urinary tract infections, benign prostatic hyperplasia ( enlarged prostate especially in mid age or older males), bladder stone, bladder tumor , prostate tumor, diuretic medications, congestive heart failure and even diabetes. A lot of your medical history will help sort out the cause of your urinary frequency. A few questions your doctor may ask are as follows; How much fluid do you drink each day (especially caffeinated beverages)? Does it burn when you urinate? Have you seen blood in your urine? Do you leak urine or have a strong urge to urinate just before you go to the bathroom? Have you ever been told you have an enlarged prostate, an abnormal prostate exam or prostate blood level drawn? Do you smoke? (Smoking greatly increases the risk of bladder cancer.) Are you overweight? ( a risk factor for diabetes). Do you have diabetes, congestive heart failure or take a “water pill” for high blood pressure? Your internist can check for the medical causes of urinary frequency before referring you to a urologist. After He/She rules out other organ systems causes o f urinary frequency we would be happy to see you in our clinic. If interested please call 1800-653-6568 for an operator who will help you get an appointment with any number of Henry Ford urologist who specialize in male urinary frequency. Now for the necessary disclaimer. This information is provided for general medical education purposes only. Please consult your physician for diagnostic and treatment options pertaining to your specific medical condition. Good Luck and hope to see or hear from you soon. Sincerely; HFHS M.D.- MS
