Question Title: "Pearly Penile Papules"...surgical treatment to remove them???

Forum: The Urology Forum
Topic: Penile Cancer

Refering to this message below I have a few questions. It deals
with pearly penile papules as I too have them.

First of all the papules (the white fleshy finger-like
protrusions on the rim of the penis head) are discouraging
in appearance. Is there any solution (surgical?) to remove
these annoyances. I ask this because it makes intimate
encounters extremely awkward in terms of oral sex. Of course
I would like a "safe" solution as I do not want to cause any
long term damage. I want to be armed with possible solutions
when I go to see my doctor. Thankyou for your time and keep
up the amazing work you doctors are doing for us.

Dear Christian,

Pearly penile papules are asymptomatic dome-shaped papules on the coronal margin and sulcus. In one study they were present in 31% of asymptomatic men. They are more common among African American males and those who are uncircumcised.

Usually no treatment is required, but if cosmetic reasons are compelling, Laser surgery can be performed with good results and minimal side effects.
