Recently after my wife and i had sex i experienced severe pain
in the left testi and upon examination found a lump at the bottom.the severe pain subsided in about an hour, but there was still aslight pain that got worse when i finely after a week went to the doctor. She said she thougt it was epididymitis but had to ask another doctor because it was to low.
The other doctor said yes it could so she prescribed doxcycline
100mg. The pain seemed to subside a little after taking the drug
for 7 days but the lump or seems to still be there and a little tinder. Should i be concerned about this? how long should i substan from sex. Or better yet what is it.

note: i will be seeing my doctor next week for a checkup.

thanks

Dear Bill
Epididymitis is an infection in the tube that drains the testicle. Antibiotics, anti-inflammatory medicine, warm soaks, and scrotal support are used to treat it. No one antibiotic takes care of every bacteria and you may need a different antibiotics in the future. Not all lumps in the scrotum are from infections, and if the lump does not resolve, we would suggest a scrotal ultrasound.
