i'm worried sick.

I'm 21 and i'm worried about my testicals.  Both testicals are hanging kinda low and my left one is quit a bit smaller and also hangs lower than my right one.  On the left side of my sack above my left testical, it seems to be full of big worms or very thick lumpy veins or something that is all around my testical and goes up into my scrotum.  It is very noticable to see and sometimes it seems that they are over sensitive.  When my testicals are not hanging low then the lumpy thick veins tend to almost hide somewhere because you can't see them, but you can definetaly feel them.  It seems to be getting even more noticable and it also seems that my left testical is getting smaller to.  The last time i had a check up was when i was about 15 and everything was fine.  I haven't went to see a doctor or told my parents because i'm just very very embarassed about it, now i'm worried that i have waited to long and i have a seriouse problem.  There is also kind of a lump on the end of my left testical and i have just recently noticed one on my right.  I am about to go crazy from worry and not knowing if it can be fixed or not.  please help me as much as you can.

thanks

Hello - thanks for asking your question.

One consideration would be a varicocele.  This is typically described as a scrotal mass feeling like a "bag of worms".  It is caused by a dilation of spermatic veins and is prominent in 15-20 percent of post-pubertal males.  Typically the left testicle is bigger.

In any case, I would have this seen by your personal physician or a urologist.  A scrotal ultrasound would determine what is going on in your scrotum and from there, appropriate treatment can be discussed.

Followup with your personal physician is essential.
