Hey I was hoping you can help me...I am 21 yrs old in last yr of college...Last tuesday late night...technically wednesday i guess....i was having trouble falling asleep b/c I kept having the urge to pee and not much would come out...I went to my primary care doctor the next morning and she took a urinalysis and it was negative for bacteria or whit cells..she wanted to do an std test...which every doctor jumps to when dealing with someone my age...but i had a test at the end of december which came back neg for chlamydia and gonorhea and herpes and since then i have had sex with the same girl a few times always with protectin..Last time I ahd sex was about 2 months ago...anyway I have pain in my groin area...testicles hurt and i still ahve the urge to urinate alot with same result of not much coming out..I had a urniary infection twice my freshman year...i know what these feel like and it feels the same as it did last time but the test was negative...I got sick a lot my freshman year due to the fact of being homesick and being under stress...sicne then I havent had one and I dont get sick that much...I have this pain in my testicles, so I am thinking maybe prostate infection due to the fact that my urine culture was negative..I have no clue what is going on and I need help

Thanks, Bri

I would agree with a repeat test for STDs - including gonorrhea and chlamydia.  This can be done via urethral swab or urine test.  This would be a more common cause for your symptoms and can cause epididymitis or prostatitis.

The possibility of epididymitis can be evaluated via scrotal ultrasound.  Prostatitis should be evaluated via a digital rectal exam.  Prostatic fluid can be expressed, and sent for analysis and culture.

If the symptoms continue, I would suggest a referral to a urologist for further evaluation.

Followup with your personal physician is essential.
