My husband and I are trying to conceive our first child. Both of his testicles look normal(per his GP) however he seems to have one vas deferan that is longer than the other and it is noticeable to us just by looking and feeling. My husband gets regular physicals and he said that no one has ever mentioned it except for once when he was about 10 years old and he thinks the Dr. may have said something about it effecting his sperm count but he can't remember exactly what was said. He thought there was a technical term for his having one tube longer than the other but he couldn't remeber that either. Is there a term? My question is could this be a problem for us in conceiving? He always produces alot of semen and ejaculates normally( we are going to get a sperm count soon). Could having one tube longer than the other have anything to do with his ability to father a child? I was under the impression that the vd's just transport the sperm not make it so I can't see how it could be a problem. Any info. would be greatly appreciated as we are both very worried and really want children soon. Thanks!

I am not aware of the term where one vas deferans is longer than the other.
I am also not aware of its effects on conceiving. If there is a concern regarding this, you can consider a semen analysis where the viability of the sperm is analyzed in a lab. If there are anatomical changes that can affect fertility, this test can help evaluate this.
This can be discussed with your personal physician or urologist.
